A little bit about Keisha
Fierce Woman, Mama, Social Freedom Midwife, Lover of All Things James Baldwin, Skulls, and the Color RED!
In many circles Keisha is called Rev. Kogan because she is an ordained interfaith minister - a fact which informs all her work with Waters of Oshun - an organization that serves survivors of Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence and other Gender-Based Violence in BIPOC communities from a spiritual perspective.
Waters of Oshun has many initiatives including creating individualized curriculum for communities interested in addressing DV/IPV and GB Violence within their organization or community. There you will find information about One to One Spiritual Counseling and Spiritual Care Support Circles for survivors of DV/IPV and GB Violence. The Waters of Oshun site also has a blog and a link to their podcast Waterfall - which uploads a new episode every Wednesday. There is also a media page with interviews, panels, talks and sermons. Keisha is also a certified Integrative Wellness Coach specializing in Spiritual and Career Development and a Holistic Health Counselor.
This site KeishaKogan.com is all about Keisha Kogan and the work she has been doing for almost thirty years. Here you will find her curriculum vitae for her Community Architect work and her Teaching work. There is also a Professional Portfolio with examples of her work as an educator and facilitator. Lots of juicy information there including syllabi, handouts, resources, recommended reading lists and curriculum she has created for partners and stakeholders throughout her career, as well as case studies and survey results. On the Peer Review page you will see what co-workers, support circle participants and students have to say about working with Keisha. Lastly, but not at all in the least, is a section to reach out and contact Keisha if you have any questions about the services she offers.
In 2014 when Keisha was at Union Theological Seminary, in the City of New York getting her Masters of Divinity in Psychology and Pastoral Care she needed to find a place to do her internship/field education work. She was led to CONNECT NYC and their Faith initiative - reaching out to faith communities, of all types, to educate them and help them build scalable Domestic Violence Education programs. Most of Keisha's recent work has been in education about and involvement in the Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence community, especially in marginalized environments. Since then she has taken her decades of experience to create Waters of Oshun (which will remain virtual until the pandemic allows for a brick and mortar experience) - a holistic environment for survivors. Going forward Waters will be an actual location where BIPOC survivors of violence can receive alternative modalities of healing like yoga, acupuncture, various forms of massage and reiki. The space will also house community-based events.
